Newark Encourages Entrepreneurship with Business Symposium
While much has been said about organizations like Whole Foods, Nike, Dinosaur BBQ and Chipotle staking out their claim in Brick City small business owners, and would be entrepreneurs are still looking for a way to stand out. The Newark Community Economic Development Corporation (Newark CEDC) has partnered with the Newark Regional Business Partnership and the City of Newark to develop the 2017 Franchise and Entrepreneurship Symposium. This event, which will be held at Newark’s Robert Treat Hotel is free for all who are considering becoming business owners.
The symposium will provide attendees with access to financial and legal experts, and members of the Newark CEDC including its Acting President Aisha Glover, Executive Vice President and Chief Real Estate Officer Carmelo G. Garcia, Acting Chief Financial Officer Nathan Cooper, and many others. They will also have an opportunity to meet and inquire with representatives of national franchises.
Mayor Ras J. Baraka will be delivering the symposium’s opening remarks. The mayor has been praised for his pragmatism and commitment to cutting the red tape that can often quell change.
It may seem like everyone on your instagram feed has been transformed into a CEO overnight but starting up a sustainable business is no easy feat. A lack of available resources can make it impossible to execute even the most innovative idea.
After the symposium ends attendees will have the opportunity to network with sponsors, speakers, representatives and one another because relationship building, like financial and legal advice, relationship building is a necessary tool for success.
